Evolution of my Research Question

After my tutorial with Richie about my Reflective Journal, he had mentioned that even though there is a flow of your research, there is not a clear evolution of my research question overall. With my research question changing quite a lot in the past 2 years, starting from Rituals within my own culture to Identities of Pakistani women.  A timeline can give a clear indication of my research question.

Highlighted bold are main changes

How has Traditions and Rituals changed over generations?

Why? I had learnt a lot about different traditions and rituals we have within the culture, religion and family, from my mother and grandmother. I had wanted to build a platform to create awareness and knowledge for women about rituals they learn from different cultures

Reason of change? It was just too overwhelming of information from different cultures. At the time my personal tutor Paul, saw the reason behind this question but it wasn’t narrowed down.

How can art be used as a medium to convey the identity of Pakistani women?

Why?  After feeling stuck and overwhelmed with the information on rituals. Leaning more on the cultural side of my research question, then religion. I had thought back to the identity of Pakistani women and creating a platform of, how the western culture portray Pakistani women.

Reason of change? Reading a few books on the differences between identities and identity had made me realise that identities is a better choice of wording in my research question. This is because I felt there is a limit to the identity then there is to identities.

How can art be used as a medium to convey the identities of Pakistani women?

Reason of change? After the online workshop on Instagram, I haven’t used the word art or even done anything practical. I felt a like the questions wasn’t relating back to the interventions.

How can the process of dialogue build relationships and create trust in the communication of the identities of Pakistani women?

Speaking with Richie has always been a pleasant because I do believe he understand how difficult it is to put a question together, that actually makes sense to my interventions. I will be thinking more ahead of maybe changing a few words in this question, but for now this research question seems to make more sense
